The short version
- You decide what is public. Nothing on your profile is visible until you publish it, and you can take any of it down at any time. Runs, recordings, and transcripts are never public.
- We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
- Your voice is used to score your defense, not to identify you biometrically.
- Sponsors and employers see what the public sees. Nothing more.
- Your record is yours. You can download it or delete it.
1. Who we are
Applied Erudition LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company, operates appliederudition.com and the AE platform. Contact: hello@appliederudition.com.
2. What we collect

3. How we use it
- To run the platform: accounts, workouts, scoring, and profiles.
- To verify identity and uphold the integrity floors.
- To process payments and send service messages. We send news or updates only if you opt in.
- To calibrate and improve assessments, using de-identified data.
- To meet legal obligations.
4. What is public: your choice
Your profile is private until you choose to publish it. You control each part separately:

You can publish, hide, or republish any part whenever you want. Hiding something does not delete it: it stays in your record, visible only to you, until you delete it. You control what is shown, not what it says. A published standing always appears exactly as earned, with its date.
5. Voice recordings
Voice defenses are recorded so they can be scored. The audio is converted to text by a speech-recognition provider, and the text is evaluated against the workout’s published rubric.
We keep audio only as long as necessary: until the 30-day window to request review of that result closes, or until any review you request is resolved. Then we delete it. The transcript stays with your run record, private to you.
We do not create voiceprints, and we do not use your voice to identify you biometrically. Recordings and transcripts are never shared with sponsors or employers.
6. Automated scoring and human review
Submissions and transcripts are processed by AI models from third-party providers to help score them. We use providers whose terms do not permit them to train models on your data. Any result can be flagged for human review (see our Terms).
7. Who we share with
Service providers that run parts of AE for us, under contracts limiting their use of your data to that purpose:

Sponsors. If an institution or employer pays your fee, it learns that you accepted the sponsored seat and whether your membership is active. It sees only what you have chosen to make public, like anyone else. It cannot see your runs, submissions, recordings, or transcripts.
Employers. Employers see only what you have chosen to make public. If AE later offers employers tools to search for or contact members, taking part will be opt-in, separate from membership, and we will ask you first. Submissions, recordings, and transcripts will never be part of it.
Research. We may use de-identified, aggregated data to study and improve assessment. Identifiable data is used in research only with your separate consent, under an approved research protocol.
Legal and transfers. We disclose data when the law requires it. If AE is ever acquired or merged, this policy binds the successor.
8. What we never do
- Sell or rent personal data.
- Share personal data for targeted advertising.
- Use your voice for biometric identification.
- Give sponsors or employers access to your private records.
9. How long we keep it
While your account is open, your run history is kept as your permanent record, because showing growth over time is part of what AE displays.
If you close your account, anything you have published comes down immediately, and your personal data is deleted within 90 days. Two exceptions: payment records we must keep for tax purposes, and de-identified data that can no longer be linked to you.
Form submissions from people who never join are deleted after 12 months.
10. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you;
- give you a portable export of your record;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop sending you optional messages.

11. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege access. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
12. Minors
AE is not for anyone under 18. If we learn that we hold a minor’s data, we will delete it.
13. Changes
We will post changes here with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify members by email before the change takes effect.
